The world is facing a crisis, a war of: economic recession, unemployment, biased media, religious wars, and preconceptions. The root of any conflict on this planet right now is the fundamental misunderstanding of the situation as is. In international relations we have issues with neighbor countries because we lack to understand each other’s history, culture, objectives, values, religious beliefs and education standards. We are spending millions on wars for military forces and nuclear bombs when we are in one of history’s worst financial recessions. We are cutting education budgets to afford weapons in the Middle East. Can investments of tanks and guns really fix our problems?
International relations between countries and people need to improve before the crisis worsens. Without a shift in paradigms, the world is headed in an even more tumultuous time where war becomes the norm and peace is a privilege. The way to change the dangerous path we are on is to emphasize and prioritize education. Knowledge and education is the global fundamental driving force behind democracy and freedom.
We are at a point in the world where the current universal education system is not sufficient to make the changes that we need. Our global community is controlled by the masses such as governments and media. Liberty does not exist if we are unaware of the truth, liberty does not exist if we cannot find common grounds with each other, liberty does not exist if the media is our source of information, and liberty does not exist if people are not taught to question the issues. This in fact is the opposite of democracy, this is tyranny. On a cultural level, it is imperative that we respect and understand each other’s motivations, values, norms, education standards, habits, and religious beliefs.
If we, the world, continue to ignore education as the fundamental driver in international relations then we fail to see the reality of our world. International relations cannot improve without a universal education reform policy that will enforce education rights. We will continue discriminating each other through violence and words, global warming will inevitably end the world, terminal health diseases will grow, and the poor will continue to be poor as the rich becomes richer. Everything is about education. But it goes beyond the classroom and outside into the real world where the need for a change is clear.
Education is the door to freedom and with a Universal Declaration of Education Rights, we can implement and establish peace, health, sustainability and personal development.
